Carrie Leung
Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers
Ms LEUNG Ka lai, Carrie, MH, is the Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB), where she leads the advancement of professional standards and competency development for the banking industry in Hong Kong.
Prior to joining HKIB, Ms LEUNG served as Head of Service Quality and Training at a note issuing bank. She has extensive experience in quality management and talent development, and under her leadership, the bank received multiple industry recognitions for training excellence and quality initiatives.
Ms LEUNG plays an active role in shaping the Hong Kong Banking Qualifications Framework (HKQF), contributing to the establishment of industry wide professional standards. She is also deeply involved in education and human capital development across the financial sector, serving on numerous government and public committees. Her appointments include Chairman of the Sub Committee on Support Measures under the Committee on Self financing Post secondary Education (CSPE) of the Education Bureau, Council Member and Honorary Treasurer of Lingnan University, and Chairman of the Standing Review Committee for Qualifications Assessment of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).
At the international level, Ms LEUNG contributes to the development of global banking education standards as a Council Member of the Global Banking Education Standards Board (GBEStB). She previously served on the Accreditation Council of the Finance Accreditation Agency in Malaysia (FAA).
Ms LEUNG was named one of the Most Extraordinary Women in Finance by Benchmark Magazine in 2009 and was awarded the Medal of Honour (MH) by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2018.
