Dhan Bahadur Thapa
Deputy General Manager, National Banking Institute (NBI)
Dhan brings over 18 years of extensive experience in the banking and financial sector. He began his professional career in 1992 with Grindlays Bank Ltd. (now Standard Chartered Bank), where he built a strong foundation across multiple functional areas of banking. Over the course of his tenure, he served in various departments, which enabled him to develop a comprehensive understanding of banking operations and sharpen his professional expertise.
In the latter part of his career with Standard Chartered Bank, Dhan served as Branch Manager for six years before leaving the organization in 2011. His leadership during this period was marked by strong operational oversight, people management, and performance delivery.
Dhan joined National Banking Institute Ltd (NBI) in December, 2011. Currently he heads the program division, and in his corporate capacity, serves as the Officiating Chief Executive Officer. He has played a pivotal role in strengthening NBI’s institutional capacity, program portfolio, and overall organizational standing.
His professional interests include leadership development, motivation, sales and marketing, corporate governance. Known as a self-driven leader and effective team player, Dhan has been instrumental in mentoring and developing teams at NBI, contributing significantly to the Institute’s growth and sustainability.
